SpaceVenture, my biggest Kickstarter disappointment

This has been brewing for some time now. This is a write up of a Kickstarter project, undelivered to this date, in the making for a bit over 5-years now. To be in more fact, it passed its 5-years anniversary on June 12th, 2017, making the original point of being successfully funded in now so distant 2012. The project in question managed to raise $530k, that is over half a million dollars, and yet, it's not yet done. I am talking about my biggest disappointment in crowdfunding, the SpaceVenture-project by the former Space Quest-developers Mark Crowe and Scott Murphy.

Let me give some history here. Back in the day, the Two Guys From Andromeda, that is Murphy and Crowe, broke up after Space Quest 4. They both were individually involved in the two later SQ games, Crowe on SQ5 and Murphy on SQ6, but they never did work together, as they had fallen out and didn't come along together at that time. Hi-Res Adventures #2: The Wizard and the Princess (1980), AKA Adventure in Serenia,, developed and designed by Roberta and Ken Williams, published and developed by On-Line Systems (later known as Sierra On-line)

After Mystery House had become a successful first entry to the game business, Roberta and Ken Williams started to think about an another game in order to strike the iron while it was still hot. The game, that was released the same year as Mystery House was called Adventure in Serenia, later dubbed as the Wizard and the Princess, which did not only end up selling around 60 000 copies but is also seen as a King's Quest 0, even referenced in the official King's Quest Companion books. Just like Mystery house, the Wizard and the Princess was also somewhat of an improvement technically, as instead of simple two colour, black and white line graphics, it had actual colours graphics and art, that was done by someone who actually knew how to draw. Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: Infinities Volume 1 (various makers)

Infinities collection Volume 1 is Star Wars in a way like you've never seen it before. The first three stories it has, cover the three original movies, giving them a twist: in the New Hope Luke fires at the Death Star but doesn't destroy it, causing empire to capture Leia and allowing Darth Vader and the Emperor to start corrupting her to the dark side. In the Empire Strikes Back, Luke dies in hypothermia at planet Hoth, which leads Leia to be trained to be balance the force needs and finally in the Return of the Jedi destruction of C-3PO puts a dent in the rescue operation of Han Solo, which escalates into Han losing his sight and Yoda dying before Luke gets back to Dagobah.

While the first three stories are interesting, none of them is particularly amazing. They're not bad, and all of them have some solid ideas in them, but they don't manage to rise above a notion of "well, that's a cute idea". What really makes the collection worthwhile is the adaptat…
