More old game boxes. This time around, I'll take a look at one game, but with two different boxes.
Game Over 2 aka Phantis (Dinamic Software, 1987)
While in the first picture the title says Phantis, it is the alternative box art for Game Over 2. While I've not played the game myself, it seems to have been divided into two parts. First, there is the space shooter, where you control a spaceship and shoot incoming enemies from a sidescrolling view. The second part of the game takes place on the planet, where you get to ride a big lizard thing while shooting enemies.
This particular piece of box art was drawn by Alfonso Azipiri, a Spanish comic book artist. The art for the first game, as well as the alternative box, was done by Lois Royo, whose original cover for the first game raised a couple of eyebrows thanks to a very visible nipple. Azipiri wasn't a bit shyer with his art, although his style is a bit more cartoonish. I have no idea if noises were made because of this cover though.
Lois Royo's take on the cover was, interestingly enough, a bit more tamer, especially compared to his art on the first game, albeit you can still see what's what.
The styles between the two covers are quite different and in the end, it does boil down to personal taste which is better, or if they both are just as good, but because of different reasons. Personally, I lean more towards Azipiri's piece, as it's overall more appealing to me. The yellow/sepia tones of Royo's work are something of a downer to me, really. Not that the quality is bad,
