Leisure Suit Larry - Wet Dreams Dry Twice demo (2020)

When a soft reboot of the Leisure Suit Larry series by CrazyBunch stumbled to the world a couple of years back I was surprised to find out it was actually a pretty decent game. Despite being made by people with no connection to the originals, it wasn't the travesty I expected but a fun and reasonably fun game. I was even more surprised to learn, that there was a sequel in the works and now there's a demo of it. The name of the sequel, Wet Dreams Dry Twice, is not the smartest out there, the original wasn't either, but that didn't stop the first game from being good.

So, somewhat unsurprisingly, WDDT demo starts more or less right after the ending of the previous game. Faith has gone missing and Larry is stranded on the Cancum island, now in the midst of getting married to the island Wiseman, El Roy. Pi Phone on the other hand is trying to crack the cypher of the mysterious zip file she received a while back.

The first part of the demo is actually a tutorial meant for people who have not ever played an adventure game before, so it's full of pretty simple puzzles. It also teaches a couple of new tricks. The first is, that Larry can now snap pictures of items too big for him to catty so that he can remember them later on. The second is the blueprint puzzles. These are puzzles in which you have a blueprint (unsurprisingly) and you need to use items in Larry's possession to build an item. In this case, a raft that will help him escape the island as well as marriage to a woman he hasn't even seen.

Pi finally gets the file cracked and Larry learns that Faith might still be alive. This gives him more incentive to leave the island, as the poor chap has even built her a shrine. And collected all of her underwear for safekeeping. Larry is nothing if not a helpful gentleman.

Anyway, at the same time, elsewhere, mainly at the Prune headquarters, we see the new leader of the company, a little, pudgy fellow who suspiciously looks like a certain North Korean leader and who has a picture of Winnie Pooh on his desk. This overly sexed cretin learns there's a signal coming from Faith's phone and he wants it as he wants her AI project.

After sailing away, Larry ends up on a surprisingly familiar looking paradise island in the middle of the Caribbean. Not that he seems to have any memory of the place, but it certainly looks like the Nontoonyt island from Larry 2 and 3. And there the demo ends.

From the looks of it, Wet Dreams Dry Twice is going to be more of the same as the previous game. This time around, it doesn't have the social media app Timber, but the phone seems to be on an important role once again. It also looks like it is going to conclude the story of the first game, so there's that as well.

If you want to give the demo a spin, you can find it from Steam. If you liked the first Larry CrazyBunch made, it's safe to assume you might like this one as well.
