KAPIA - 3D adventure Kickstarter

I haven't endorsed a Kickstarter project in ages, mostly because I've seen no need for it and I've backed relatively few projects since the initial craze that started in 2012 with Double Fine Adventure, later known as Broken Age. I decided to make a small write up on KAPIA, as the project does look fantastic and has the makings of a solid adventure game.

KAPIA is a 3D point and click adventure, set in a post-apocalyptic world. The demo lets you play as two characters, Stefan and Reny. Reny is a small kid and Stefan is her grandfather, who has taken care of her since her parents died in a war.

The demo begins when Stefan arrives back home after a dangerous mission he was on. He arrives at the snow-clogged gates of the shelter and the first puzzle he has to solve is how to get inside, as the gigantic robot head guarding the gate is on the fritz. After figuring out how to repower the brains of the robot, Stefan finally gets to the gate, but there's a problem: despite knowing all the passwords and having an ID card, he isn't buzzed in.

So, now the playable character switches to Reny, who is at home being looked after by Stefan's friend, who absentmindedly is more focused on repairing an old boxing game. In order to get the gate open, Reny needs the help of the robot living in the house and in order to do that, she needs the helmet used to control the robot. As the scientist isn't willing to let Stefan in immediately, she plays him for the helmet.

After Stefan gets in, he has to get past a guard Cat, who isn't willing to let anyone past. So again, another obstacle to be tackled. Luckily, the Cat is interested in revolutions and KAPIA is a place full of revolutionaries. After finding the Cat info about a cause, Stefan can finally start towards home, but alas, thing's aren't that easy and the demo ends with a cliffhanger.

What makes the current state of KAPIA especially impressive is, that the fact that the team consists of two people, a husband and wife team. What they have managed to do with KAPIA is nothing short of impressive

The goal for them is to collect at least 12 000 dollars, of which the campaign has managed to rise about 9300 dollars at the time of me writing this. If you are interested, you can head down to their Kickstarter page and play the demo yourself. If you like what you saw, like me, you might consider throwing a couple of dollars their way. This is a project with a lot of potential and there are still 8 days left.
